奧地利航空（Austrian Airlines）與保加利亞交通部並未立即回應路透社的置評請求。路透社目前也無法立即核實相關報導。
航班追蹤網站Flightradar24資料顯示，這架編號OE-LZE的空中巴士（Airbus）A320客機，原訂晚上6時40分從特拉維夫（Tel Aviv）飛往奧地利維也納（Vienna），但於晚間9時25分轉降索菲亞（Sofia）。

Following landing, passengers were evacuated and security teams began inspecting the aircraft. Initial reports indicated that the person allegedly responsible for the threat was not aboard the aircraft. No confirmed explosive device had been reported in the sources reviewed. 天空新聞網（Sky News）引述保加利亞交通部初步資料指出，機上有6名機組員與51名乘客。
保加利亞交通部在聲明中表示，飛機飛至羅馬尼亞邊境附近時，機組員通報炸彈威脅訊號，並決定在索菲亞緊急降落。
保加利亞交通部補充，空軍一架戰機於飛機降落索菲亞期間伴飛，乘客隨後已全數下機。
