尼泊爾與中國西藏接壤的喜馬拉雅山區26日發生嚴重土石流及洪水災情，突如其來的洪流迅速沖擊沿線聚落，大量房屋、道路與橋梁受損，部分水力發電設施也遭到破壞。當地災情同時波及正在旅遊的外籍人士，其中一支由31人組成的旅行團目前仍處於失聯狀態。

據《CNN》報導，位於尼泊爾首都加德滿都的旅行社 Kailash Journeys 表示，這支旅行團原定前往尼泊爾與中國邊境的拉蘇瓦嘉迪（Rasuwagadhi），再徒步前往岡仁波齊峰（Kailash Mansarovar）。然而團隊在行程途中遇上洪災，之後便與旅行社失去聯繫。
旅行社負責人華斯蒂（Sujan Wasti）指出，失聯團隊共有31人，其中包括26名外籍旅客及5名尼泊爾籍導遊。外籍旅客分別來自美國、英國、澳洲、紐西蘭、加拿大、南非及馬來西亞，其中美國籍8人、英國籍7人、澳洲籍6人、紐西蘭籍1人、加拿大籍2人、南非籍1人及馬來西亞籍1人，男女各約半數。
這支旅行團25日上午8時從加德滿都出發，原本預計經由拉蘇瓦嘉迪邊境前往岡仁波齊峰。旅行社掌握到的最後行蹤顯示，團隊26日上午7時30分左右離開賽布魯貝西（Syabrubesi），準備前往約10公里外的拉蘇瓦嘉迪。

不過由於當地道路狀況不佳，即使只有約10公里的距離，也可能需要數個小時才能抵達。就在團隊行進期間，當地突然爆發洪水與土石流，隨後旅行社便再也無法與成員取得聯絡。
華斯蒂透露，團隊出發時氣氛相當愉快，成員精神狀況良好，甚至在啟程前拍攝團體合照及自拍，沒想到短短一天後便與外界完全失去聯繫。面對31名團員至今下落不明，華斯蒂坦言情況令人非常擔憂。他表示，目前只能祈求團隊成員平安，希望能夠等到好消息，但隨著災情持續擴大，能否順利找到所有人仍充滿未知。
