美國前副總統、民主黨籍總統參選人拜登（Joe Biden）今（12）日透過推特，祝賀蔡英文總統連任。拜登並呼籲，美國應該持續強化與台灣及其他民主政體的關係。
台灣總統大選11日登場，蔡總統以超過800萬的高票擊敗國民黨總統候選人韓國瑜，成功連任。目前在民主黨總統初選持續保持領先的拜登（Joe Biden）今天透過推特（Twitter），祝賀蔡總統勝選，也恭賀台灣人民再次成功舉辦選舉。
拜登表示，台灣因為其自由、開放的社會而變得更強健。他並呼籲：「美國應該持續強化與台灣、其他理念相近民主政體的關係。」
美國國務院政軍局助卿古柏（Clarke Cooper）今天也在推特轉貼美國國務卿蓬佩奧（Mike Pompeo）稍早恭賀蔡總統的聲明。古柏說：「台灣自由、公平的選舉就是以實際行動呈現出的民主。」
蓬佩奧稍早發表聲明表示，台灣透過選舉再次展現強健民主制度的力量；他除了感謝蔡總統帶領台灣與美國建立強健關係，也讚許她在面對持續不斷壓力下，仍致力維持台海兩岸的穩定。
