曾「進白宮」報導政治重案 傳奇媒體人離世享壽89歲

美國ABC News傳奇新聞主播兼記者湯姆‧賈里爾（Tom Jarriel），因報導過馬丁‧路德‧金恩遇刺案（Assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.）而聞名；然而，在當地時間24日，賈里的家人向外界證實他已離開人世。

根據《New York Post》報導，媒體職涯橫跨將近40年的「資深媒體人」賈里爾已離開人世，享壽89歲；在ABC News任職多年的他，曾擔任晚間新聞主播、調查記者等職，更曾在美國第37任總統尼克森（Richard Milhous Nixon ）、第38任總統福特（Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr.）任職期間，擔任白宮首席記者（Chief White House Correspondent）。

此外，賈里爾更報導過馬丁‧路德‧金恩遇刺案、水門案（Watergate scandal），皆是當時的政治重案；在近40年的職業生涯裡，賈里爾獲獎無數，其中更包括10項艾美獎（Emmy Awards），後於2002年退休。

對於賈里爾的離世，ABC News表示「我們對他為公司奮鬥38年深表敬意，他的公平、正值十分令人敬佩，且最重要的是，他充滿人性」。
